  • Title song from 14's Good 18's Better — Documentary by Gillian Armstrong, 1980
    Written by Jan Cornall and Elizabeth Drake, the title song of the same name continues to feature in this film that revisits three Adelaide girls every 7 years.

    Cabaret and stand up comedy.

      A singing belly dancing, multicultural waitress takes you on a tour of her workplace, personal life and culinary tastes.

    • Act 2 Woman On The Run Solo performance
      A woman in search of some time alone, gives a running commentary as she is pursued by an imaginary pack of joggers. Taking refuge in a number of cafes, she meets odd characters, revisits the past, examines her addiction to guilt and finally finds enlightenment in the ladies toilet.

  • Working Woman's Lunch 1984
    Co written with Brian Joyce.
    A lunch time work site show for factory workers. Two characters; Aroma Billings, a multi cultural waitress, and Dawn, cleaning lady, have a musical lunch and compare notes on workplace conditions, sexual harrassment and recipes for success.
    Performed at worksites in NSW, Victoria and Tasmania.

  • Escape from A Better Place 1986
    A black comedy that asks the question: "Is there sex after children?"
    George and Georgy a modern role reversal couple, with young children, lock themselves in the bedroom on a Sunday morning in an attempt to 'connect'
    As they fade in and out of sleep, domestic confusion and escape fantasies, their realities collide and thay find themselves in a storm of their own making. Beached after the storm abates,they find that magic moment of connection agin, just as the kids are battering on the door and the weekly cycle begins again.
    Performed by Interact Theatre Canberra, Flashrat Theatre Co Melbourne, Murray River Performing Group Albury, The Playhouse Newcastle, International Womens Playwrights Conference Greece 2000. Adapted for ABC Radio Drama 2003.

  • Tisket Tasket 1987
    Co Written with Brian Joyce.
    An entertaining health and personal development play for primary age children about body image, emotions, and sexuality. Two young children discover a world and themselves in a laundry basket.
    Performed by Freewheels Theatre Company, Newcastle.

 

  • Binge - A Rock Musical 1987
    An innovative rock musical for high school students about teenage binge drinking. A singer ruins his band's chances at a recording contract as he slowly drinks himself out of control.
    Performed by Freewheels Theatre Company, Newcastle.

 

  • Housewife — The Musical 1989
    An acapella musical, depicting a day in the life of five housewives of different ages and nationalities, who live in the same street. From sun up to sun down, as they work, the women sing of their secret desires, lost dreams, love lives, the invisibility of their work, and their inner sense of fullfillment at the end of the day of a job well done. The music and songs reflect a diverse range of styles and cultural origins.
    Produced by The Workers Cultural Action Committee, Newcastle.
    Performed at The Drama Theatre Newcastle Univerity.

 

  • Talk 1993
    Screenplay for the feature film directed by Susan Lambert, produced by Megan McMurchy
    A conversation between two women friends that takes place in different locations over a day. A film of funny stories, frank disclosures, erotic secrets, painful confessions and irreverent observations. Through their talk the women make decisions that have life changing consequences.
    Starring Victoria Longley (AFI nomination for the role of Julia), Angie Milliken, Richard Roxborough and Jacqueline McKenzie.
    Shown in USA: New York and cities tour and Sydney

  • At The Crossroads 1997
    A musical play drawn from the lives of farming women in rural Australia.
    Three women meet at an outback crossroads for their annual general meeting,to elect a new president. An outsider is co-opted to chair the meeting. To convince the audience to vote for them, the characters sing of their experience on the land including; farm disclosures, land degradation and land care, the battle between older and younger generations, the new role of women in farming, sustainable agriculture, indigenous land rights, the history of Aboriginal stock riders, migrant farmers, domestic violence, natural disasters and their shared love of the land.
    Commissioned and produced by Women On A Shoestring Theatre Company.
    Performed in regional NSW, Victoria, Tasmania, NT, SA, QLD, Canberra, Melbourne.

  • Girls of the Reel 2000
    A musical journey into the silent movie era in Australia, that uncovers the talent of little known women working in the film industry at that time. Women such as Lotte Lyell, the McDonagh sisters, Louise Lovely and Annete Kellerman were all active in directing and producing their own work. Incorporating archival film footage, music, song and comedy the talents of these women are revisited. Comparisons are drawn between then and now in relation to the world dominance of the film industry by American companies.
    Commissioned and produced by Women On A Shoestring.
    Performed in Regional NSW, Victoria, and Canberra.

 

  • Hanging Onto The Tail Of A Goat 2000
    Solo performance piece created and devised by Jan Cornall, writer, Tenzing Tsewang performer and Brian Joyce, director.
    A musical and dramatic performance piece that describes a journey of epic proportions; from a nomad child in Tibet, his escape on foot across the Himalayan mountains from the Chinese invasion, nine years as a monk in HH Dalai Lama's monastery in India, to a factory worker in Australia.
    Performed at The Performance Space Sydney, The Gasworks Melbourne, The Opera House Sydney 2001, return season 2002, Railway St Theatre, Penrith.
